As a publisher,
you can use Macbellads to set your own ad rates and
approve or reject every ad that's purchased for your
site. Macbellads enables you to instantly sell ads
to your visitors via a "Macbellads" link,
in addition to selling through our marketplace and
sales team.
Through a small snippet of HTML placed on your
site, we handle serving, scheduling, billing, support,
and sales. About half of Macbellads's sales are
generated from our marketplace and sales team, while
the other half are generated from users clicking
"Macbellads" on our publisher's sites.
While Macbellads can provide publishers with more
revenue and better ads than traditional ad networks,
such as Google's AdSense, we work fine along-side
them as a simple way to generate additional ad revenue
by selling ads directly to your visitors -- something
the other ad systems don't do.
If you're using Macbellads, in addition to another
ad network, you can turn off Macbellads's keyword
targeted-network ads and Macbellads will only display
ads that have been approved by you. If you have
no ads running, Macbellads will display nothing
but "Macbellads", so no real estate is
wasted and you have nothing to lose.
Macbellads doesn't display
the big "brick" of ads that you're used
to. Rather, Macbellads gives publishers full control
over the look and feel of their ads so Macbellads
can be integrated seamlessly into any website.
- How do I start selling
ads?
-
Getting started
as an Macbellads publisher in three easy steps.
1. Tell us about yourself and your site
2. Pick up Macbellads's ad-serving code
3. Place the code on your site, and you're set!
To get started, create a publisher account by clicking
here. Once your account has been registered, we
will guide you step-by-step to set up your website
to accept ads within 24 hours. Please note that
many of our successful publishers consider three
primary factors – cost, quantity, and placement.
We recommend you create your ad zones with respect
to the three primary factors.
Cost:
Advertisers generally look for average CPC (cost
per click) or CPM (cost per thousand impressions)
of around $0.20. In other words, if their ads receive
an average of 5 clicks per day or one thousand impressions
from your site, they only want to pay about $1.00
per day. If the traffic is high quality and performs
well, advertisers are often willing to pay more,
but for new sites they will be hesitant to take
that risk.
Quantity:
The next factor advertisers consider is exposure,
i.e. how many people will see their ad. The more
people the better. To increase exposure, you may
want to work on building volume, either through
organic growth or starting your own ad campaign
to attract traffic to your site.
Placement:
Central placement on the top half of your site will
increase the probability that users will notice
the ads, thereby increasing the CTR (click-through
rate) and your potential earnings. In our experience,
up to 50% of a site’s advertisers originate
from the "Macbellads" link. Be sure this
link is displayed prominently in order to further
monetize your current traffic.
- What does this cost
me?
-
Nothing.
Being an Macbellads publisher is completely free.
- Does Macbellads require
a contract or minimum term?
-
No. There
is no contract to sign nor are you obligated to use
Macbellads any longer than you choose.
- What is an ad zone?
-
An ad zone
is an area of a publisher’s site where Macbellads
ads are shown. Publishers determine the ad zone size,
type, appearance, and how many ads are shown.
- What is your Publisher
Acceptable Use Policy?
-
The Publisher
Acceptable Use Policy is applicable to publishers
participating in the Macbellads marketplace. To be
considered as an Macbellads publisher, you are required
to adhere to the following policies.
We suggest
you read the policies carefully and reference the
guidelines often as we may change our policies at
any time. As pursuant to our Terms and Conditions,
it is your responsibility to keep up to date with
and adhere to the policies posted here. Failure to
comply with these policies may warrant us limiting
ad serving to your site and/or limiting your Macbellads
account.

- What kind of ads can
I sell?
-
Macbellads
offers several different advertising options, which
all pay differently, so there is no one payment method.
Essentially, Macbellads currently offers several advertising
options, which pay in one of four means – CPM
(cost per thousand impressions), CPC (cost per click),
CPA (cost per action), and CPV (cost per view).
CPM:
• CPM ads. CPM image ads can be a run of network
or purchased specifically for your site by an advertiser.
They are paid for on an impression basis. CPM refers
to cost per mil, so a 20 cent CPM means the advertiser
is paying 20 cents for every thousand pageviews. These
ads operate on a dynamic bidding system, with advertisers
setting their "max CPM" and bidding against
each other to get the best rate and still have their
ad show.
CPC:
• CPC based network ads. CPC ads are matched
to your site through the zone settings. They are paid
for on a pay-per-click basis. Like CPM ads, CPC ads
operate on a dynamic bidding system where advertisers
set their "max CPC". The rate paid by advertisers
is determined by demand for your site.
CPV:
• Full Page Ads. These full page display ads
can be purchased for your site or sent via the same
keyword targeting system as network CPM ads. This
ad type pays on an impression basis, but at a higher
rate ($.001 CPV to start) because they are considered
to be a more intrusive ad format.
- Can I use other ad networks
in addition to Macbellads?
-
Macbellads
has no policy against using multiple ad networks on
the same site. Many of our clients do use our service
in conjunction with AdSense and other ad networks;
though, we recommend you contact those networks directly
for their specific policies regarding multiple networks.
If you currently use another ad network and your
ad zone can support banner ads, then we recommend
you try our "reserve price" feature. Give
us your HTML snippet from your other ad network
and set a "reserve price eCPM". Then replace
their code on your site with ours. When we can't
beat your reserve price, we'll show your other network.
But when we can beat it, we'll show Macbellads ads.
You'll always make the most money possible.
To enable Reserve Pricing, please follow these
steps:
1. Log into your Macbellads account
2. Click the "Manage ad zones" link
3. Click the "Edit Ad Zone Preferences"
link
4. Select "decorate Zone" tab and scroll
down
Choose "Yes" option. A new box will appear
asking for your minimum eCPM, or minimum revenue
per thousand views to your ad zone. This number
should not surpass your expected CPM revenue from
your other ad network. Once you have set a minimum
eCPM, paste the ad code for the secondary ad network
in the white box and paste only the Macbellads code
onto your site. When Macbellads can beat your minimum
eCPM, our ads will show. When we can't, we'll show
the other network's ads, in order to ensure that
your zone earns the maximum revenue possible.
Please note that clicks or earnings from your secondary
ad network will not be reflected in your Macbellads
account or statistics.
- Where should I place
my ads?
-
We recommend
that you place ads on areas on your site that will
be most visible and useful for your users. Placing
your ads in these areas will often result in the best
performance for your advertisers, and strong performance
from the ads on your site will encourage advertisers
to buy more ads there.
Central placement on the top half of your site
will increase the probability that users will notice
the ads, thereby increasing the CTR (click-through
rate) and your potential earnings. In our experience,
up to 50% of a site's advertisers originate from
the "Macbellads" link. Be sure this link
is displayed prominently in order to further monetize
your current traffic.
- What will be displayed
in my zones when no one has purchased an ad on my site?
-
We highly
recommend Macbellads’s keyword targeted text
ads, for which you are paid per click, or keyword
targeted Full Page Ads, for which you are paid per
view. Keyword targeted ads allow relevant advertisers
to appear on your site, and the Macbellads team reviews
all keyword targeted ads before they go live to ensure
relevancy. In addition, while these ads can act as
revenue-generating placeholders, they are automatically
displaced by new site targeted ad orders.
- How do I paste the code?
- The Macbellads code is responsible
for enabling ads, tracking statistics for the ad zone,
and tracking the ads' performance. For the most accurate
statistics we recommend that you copy and paste the
entire code directly into the source code of your site.
If you are using a special template or formatting service,
we recommend you directly contact your webmaster for
advanced coding support.
To retrieve a copy of the ad code within your account,
please follow these steps:
1. Log into your account at www.macbellads.com
2. Select the "For publishers" tab
3. Click the "Manage ad zones" link
4. Click the "Get Ad Code" link
- How long do I have to
approve or reject an ad?
-
Macbellads
may review pending ads and act on your behalf based
on your “Ad Content” filter preferences
and past approval behavior.
- How do I manage multiple
sites?
-
Yes. You
can create as many ad zones as you desire and place
them anywhere on your site. We recommend grouping
all of your ads into one zone, as this will make it
easier for advertisers to buy ads on your entire site.
If you have multiple sites, you can also manage them
by creating a separate ad zone for each site under
the same Macbellads account.
- How many zones do you
allow per web page?
-
Macbellads
allows three zones of each advertising product per
page. We discourage against creating an excessive
number of zones as it will be difficult to keep track
and troubleshoot if there are any issues that arise.
If you would like one ad zone to span multiple
sites, you can use the same ad code for each site
where you would like your ads to appear as long
as the content is similar. If the content varies
between sites, especially with respect to maturity
level of audience, you will need to create a new
zone to ensure that most appropriate ads appear,
relative to the site. However, we strongly recommend
creating a different zone for each site to get better
tracking and the most accuracy with regards to statistics.
- When will I get paid?
-
Macbellads
issues payments in US Dollars, two months (net-60)
after you accrue them. For example, earnings you generated
in March 2008, will get paid out in June 2008. If
your net-60 revenue does not meet your minimum check
amount, this revenue will automatically roll over
to the following month. We begin processing publisher
payments on the first business day of each month and
mailed them out within the first five business days.
Note: For Indian addresses, please allow 7 to 10 business
days for your check to arrive. Non-Indian addresses
may take up to 21 business days.
- What is Net-60 payment?
-
Macbellads
has a Net-60 payment policy, which means that each
earning must mature for at least 60 days before it
is eligible for payment. In other words, earnings
from an ad purchased in March are eligible for payment
in June. Macbellads uses
this time to collect and verify payments. Additionally,
we start processing publisher payments checks on the
first business day of each month so your collective
March earnings would be paid on the fifth business
of June and your April earnings would be paid on the
fifth business day of July, etc.
If your collective eligible payments for a given
month meets or exceeds your minimum check amount
(default is $100.00), a check will be sent to your
address on file. Your earnings total will roll over
to the next month if you do not reach your minimum
check amount. For Indian addresses, checks typically
arrive at your door within 7 to 10 business days.
Non-Indian publishers should expect longer transit
times, sometimes from 10 to 21 business days.
- What are your publisher
payment options?
-
At this time,
Macbellads offers payment by check, Wire transfer
and Paypal only. The check will be mailed to the address
listed on the account and issued in US dollars. When
registering your account, we recommend setting your
minimum check amount accordingly, as foreign banks
often have fees associated with depositing checks
issued in US currency. We are constantly evaluating
options and services to better the marketplace experience.
Any introduction of alternative payment options will
be announced as we would like all Macbellads users
to participate.
- Can I use my earnings
to purchase advertising?
-
Yes, You
can use your earn amount after 60 days of earn date.
for this need to contact our saleateam@macbellads.com
.
- My payment was issued
over 180 days ago, can I get it reissued or redeposited?
-
We are sorry to inform you that
checks that are outstanding after 180 days from the
date of issue will be voided and ineligible for redeposit
or reissue.
- I have waited the specified
transit time, but I still haven't received my check.
What do I do now?
-
For domestic addresses, please
allow 7 to 10 business days for your payment to arrive.
Non-Indian publishers should expect longer transit
times, sometimes from 10 to 21 business days. If you
still have not received your payment after the specified
transit time, please confirm your address.
Please note that Macbellads no longer reissues payments
throughout the month. Instead, we confirm your check
has not been cashed, stop payment, and re-deposit
earnings back into your publisher account. The re-deposited
earnings will be included as part of your next publisher
payment. In addition, checks that are outstanding
after 180 days from the date of issue will be voided
and ineligible for re-deposit or reissue.
- How do I request a stop payment on my check?
-
Please note that Macbellads
no longer reissues payments throughout the month.
Instead, we confirm your check has not been cashed,
stop payment, and re-deposit earnings back into your
publisher account. The re-deposited earnings will
be included as part of your next publisher payment.
In addition, checks that are outstanding after 180
days from the date of issue will be voided and ineligible
for re-deposit or reissue.
